What to do when the Autochk Exe Tool makes the NTFS file inaccessible in Vista

The windows Vista is the relatively newer version of the Microsoft windows operating system. With every new operating system Microsoft has tried to provide with a secured error free environment for the users. Despite of this the error and the failure of the system in the windows environment are common. The error in the system makes the system unusable and all the data on the system inaccessible. The error in the system on the windows vista can be caused due to many reasons; one of the reasons is the inaccessibility of the Autochk Exe Tool.

This tool is the default application in the window vista which helps to scan and check the system integrity during the booting of the system. Sometimes this application causes error in the system due to the error in the application. When a system loaded with the windows vista operating system shuts down in an unclean or an improper manner utility of this application fails and the system shows error while booting. This corruption in this utility can also be due to other reasons like the registry failures, corrupt files, virus attacks or any other incompatible software or driver on the system. This application leads to abrupt shut down of the system and cause an error while starting of the system.

The error appears as a black screen on the system and the system becomes stagnant on it. Nothing is displayed; the major reason behind such error is the corrupt NTFS volume.

When the NTFS volume gets corrupted in a vista system the Autochk.exe tool cannot recognise the NTFS files and tries to restart the system, while again during the restart of the system the corrupted NTFS volume again blocks the start up again. This causes a circle and only the black screen appears on the screen. The Autochk.exe tool does not allow the system to boot and the corrupt NTFS files disrupt the tool. There are different ways in which one can recover corrupted file in the vista systems.

One can use the “chkdsk” tool to restart the system under the case of NTFS errors. This tool corrects the hard disk corruption. One can also download the Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 followed by the creation of a Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 2.1 disk.  The next step is the adjustment of the BIOS section to boot the system using a CD. Once this is done one needs to restart the system with the Windows PE 2.1 disk. This method coupled with the “chkdsk” application can restore the system. Despite of all these steps if the system does not work, one can use NTFS partition recovery software to recover the data stored in the vista system.

This data recovery software enables recovery of the data from the NTFS and NTFS5 system files. One can recover data files from the system using the NTFS Partition Recovery and file recovery using the reliable third party recovery software.

There are different type of data recovery softwares available in the market. Some the most important softwares are listed below:

  2. Thank you for good advices. But any software and tools wil not help when your hard drive has physical damage or was damaged by water. In this case you should contact the data recovery specialists. I read about it in iteresting blog pos about recovering data from disk after a flood or flooding.
